I’m convinced that the generally diabolical standard of tea and coffee in churches is one of the enemy’s key strategies. However it’s not the only problem that confronts us during our post-Sunday-meeting fellowship, conversation can sometimes be hard too.
Colin Marshal writes:
“Do you come to church expecting God to use you to minister to others, to encourage them in faith, hope, and love through the Word? Are you asking him to provide such opportunities?”
He gives some great tips for serving others through encouraging conversation in an article over at TGC. It feels a little weird giving such prescriptive advice; we hope that these things happen naturally and it feels artificial when we talk about how to do it. However, the experience and skill of others often makes us reflect and examine things in a way we hadn’t thought of before.
